You can only go so long without sleep. Some nights when Brennan wanted to be held, I would lay him in his crib in his boppy pillow and prop him up all around with blankets. He felt like he was being held and he slept in his bed. Just a thought. :) Glad to hear you are in a better place to stay. Take naps whenever you can. I'm sure you'll have a lot of visitors as soon as you get back to Indiana. Love you guys! Both my kids liked to be held as newborns when they slept too, and I'm glad I did hold them because they grow out of that too fast.
