Next Steps

So with an inter-state adoption like this one, we cannot take the baby across state lines until we have the approval of both the State of Florida and the State of Indiana. This process will take about a week, maybe a little longer. If we would happen to cross state lines, we would technically be committing federal child trafficking.
Emily and I checked into our new hotel this afternoon. It is SO MUCH BETTER than the old hotel. The room is twice as large as out old one, has a couch, fridge, stove, sink and a microwave. Oh, and it has running water!
Tonight I went shopping and picked up some food so we can eat here at the hotel instead of having to eat crappy bad-for-you fast food twice a day.
We took Raegan to her first post-hospital check-up at a local pediatrician office. She passed everything with flying colors. We have a very healthy little baby girl. She is still very tiny, but is eating a healthy amount every 3 hours like clockwork, so that’s great. Raegan does prefer to be held when she sleeps, and she tends to be fussy when we let her sleep in her pack-and-play bassinet.
Thanks everybody for your words of encouragement. We look forward to getting the approvals to come back to Indiana so you can all meet the most wonderful little girl ever! I am such a proud daddy!

Congratulations guys!!! I can tell how small Raegan is in the picture of Nathan holding her! Both my kids liked to be held as newborns when they slept too, and I’m glad I did hold them because they grow out of that too fast. Those are great experiences to always remember 🙂
We are back at home now and are so excited to see you and meet Raegan soon!
Love,

She is a mightly lucky little one to be sure! What wonderful parents you will be! So glad you have a better motel. Don’t suffer too much down there in the warm climate of Miami! Ha Have you tried swaddling tightly so she MIGHT sleep in her bassinet? I suppose so…Oh well, lots of fun to hold and bond too. Looking forward to your return and meeting the new member of the family! Congratulations to all!!

Holding them when they sleep is such an awesome experience, but if you do it for too long and you don’t get sleep, then you will get so worn down really fast. You can only go so long without sleep. Some nights when Brennan wanted to be held, I would lay him in his crib in his boppy pillow and prop him up all around with blankets. He felt like he was being held and he slept in his bed. Just a thought. 🙂
Glad to hear you are in a better place to stay. Take naps whenever you can. I’m sure you’ll have a lot of visitors as soon as you get back to Indiana.
Love you guys!

Thanks for all the new pictures. You two look so happy and Raegan is so cute. I used to buy diapers at Costco and saved a bundle. But, I don’t think they carry her size! I’m praying for you all. I’m glad you have a better hotel room too.
