Aunt Penny,
We walked to Wrigley Field, but took the subway/”L” back downtown. Wrigley is about six miles from downtown.
The L was only $2 per person one way, and it only took about seven minutes or so to go the six miles. (The L is really fast!)
But once downtown, everything is within walking distance. (But we do like to walk…)
We also took a free trolley from Navy Pier to Michigan Avenue, which saved us about a 1/2 mile walk. We probably put in at least 10 miles altogether in Chicago, if not more.
But I’m too much of a cheapskate to pay for a taxi! I figured the L at $4 was worth the six mile ride! (And I was right!)

Sounds like you had a great time! That would be a nice little weekend trip. We may try it sometime!

Can you still catch a ride in Waterloo? I heard awhile ago that they were planning on doing away with that depot.
Penny,
Actually, the Waterloo Depot is the second busiest Amtrak stop in the state, only behind Indianapolis.
Amtrak has no plans to stop service to Waterloo. In fact, they have requested the town look into restoring the old depot building, and creating new loading docks closer to downtown. We are actually looking at doing this.
It was a good trip. It was very convenient that the trains leave in the morning and return in the evening, too.
Santorum actually won the Iowa caucus. Santorum-1, Romney-1. Does this change anything? 2 weeks ago

I had an appointment for Frontier tech support to be here between 2-3 today. It's after 4 and nobody has showed up yet. Great job, Frontier. 2011-12-28
