Josh Doyle
My brother-in-law, Josh Doyle, (former front-man for Dum Dums), has released an EP (kinda like a mini-album) for free download.

In classic Seth Godin fashion, Doyle releases these viral beats for free. You don’t want to miss out on downloading this free music. Keep an eye on him as he releases a new album soon…

God’s Been Messing with Me…

Posted by nathan on 07 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: New Hope stuff., my life.

God’s been really messing with me lately.

Love, security, finding our purpose–it’s all kinda weird.

Last night Emily and I watched an online church service from this past weekend. Man–it was like the pastor was talking directly to us. It was flipping crazy. Seriously, the whole big idea and the whole message was dealing with what we had just discussed like 30 minutes prior.

This morning, I read a blog post from a pastor who talks about something else God’s been messing with me about. This guy is several months ahead of where we are in the issue, but poignant questions, simply trusting in God when you know he gave you a vision.

Later this morning, I read a friend’s blog that made me think about loving….man, I’ve been dealing with what loving a non-Christian looks like. It’s sometimes hard, but God’s working on me to love. Love, love, love.

It’s crazy…God is using the Internet to confirm his speaking to me. Note I’m not getting vision from God from the Internet, but He is certainly confirming the vision He’s given me through the Internet.

All this stuff is really messing with me…God’s growing me a lot lately.
Not sure where all I’m going, what God’s direction is, but I do know He is not nearly done using me yet. I’ve been called to achieve more than where I’m at. I’m not done. I’m just following the Holy Spirit’s every leading in my life.

How is God messing with you?

Stinky Church Today.

Posted by nathan on 04 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: New Hope stuff., my life., random.

Yeah, it stinks at New Hope today. Physically stinks.

No, I don’t have bad gas.

We have an issue with our ejection pump, that when the wind blows from the east, it pushes the smell (poop mixed with pee mixed with toilet paper) up into the air. It’s pretty nasty.
So twice today, I have gone on Lysol duty to deodorize the culprit room. Here’s the low-down:
1. Grab a can of Lysol.
2. Stand outside the culprit closet.
3. Take a deep breathe.
4. Open door 2″, insert Lysol, spray for 30 seconds.
5. Close door, quickly run away.
6. Resume normal breathing pattern.

I have installed a new anti-content theft plugin on this blog. Please let me know if you notice anything not working.
Darn plagiarizing auto-bots!

Weekly Update

Posted by nathan on 03 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: my life.

Happy March. Some random thoughts of what’s going on as we start the month of March!

  • I’m reminded out ‘March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb’ from Kindergarten, when half the class made lions on a page, and my half the class made a lamb (with cotton balls as wool). March 1 was a lion, as we still had about 5″ of snow cover on the ground. By this morning, (March 3), there was almost no snow cover–only piles left! It was 51 degrees at 7 a.m.!
  • Our sewer line is plugged, which means a couple things. 1. Our sewage is getting pumped into our back yard. 2. We have to pay someone like $150 to unplug it. This plugged last year, about 125′ down the line. Darn tree roots! I’ve been putting root killer down there, but apparently, not enough! I’ll have to step up the dosage and frequency. I can only hope i don’t have a collapsed pipe. (That would not be cool!)
  • In the middle of typing this, I got a call to head home and meet the sewer people there to unplug it. They got it done no problem. Cost me $175, but that’s not really a big deal considering i wasn’t able to flush the toilet properly all weekend!
  • Sunday I finishing up waterproofing the kitchen counter I installed last year. I put clear silicone to seal the backslash to the counter and also the wall. No more getting worried when we have a splash! I bought a little $1.50 tool at Home Depot to smooth out the seal, and it worked wonderfully. I should have had that little tool a long time ago. It was well worth the $1.50.
  • Of course, I had to take two trips to Home Depot to finish my project. The first one to purchase the smoothing tool and the second one to buy the silicone, as the silicone I was planning to use had all gummed up and I wasn’t able to get any out of the gun. Ahh–I remember the days of multiple trips to Home Depot every Saturday and Sunday. I’m really kinda glad I don’t have to deal with so many trips any more!
  • I am in the planning stages to work on some drainage. I want to take our downspouts and drain them away from the house. This entails digging a trench and laying tile…I’ll be doing this in the spring when the ground is really soft so it’ll be easy to dig down the 18-24″ I need.
