Restarting Windows…

Posted by nathan on 26 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

So far this week, I have had to restart my Windows computer (A higher-end 18-month old Dell machine) twice. Twice in two days. Twice in a 30-hour time span–and I haven’t even done anything intensive!
Every time (at least once a week) I have to restart due to performance issues, I make a wish:

I wish I had a Mac.

    FYI,
I just had to restart again a moment ago…
This time, about 18 hours after the last time (including 16 hours of nighttime…

    What issues are you having?

    It seems to change often.
The most common issue is intermittent loss of intermittent Internet connectivity (meaning, sometimes, some of the Internet does work (but some does)). I can’t even ipconfig /release and /renew, it takes a full restart. This fix (restarting) took me about a solid week to figure out.

I am also getting a Blue Screen memory error issue, which I think it directly related to my new network card (NOTE: the Internet Connectivity issues has been 100% better since I put in this new card, so the card isn’t causing the connectivity issue).

And then there’s my newest literal blue screen of death I got over the week when I was on a time-critical mission. NOT COOL! (put I’ll post a separate post on this issue!)

Have you disable automatic restart on system failure? If so, the next time you blue screen, get me the error codes. If you haven’t, when it reboots, hit F8 during the bios load and there should be an option to disable.

    Todd,
I didn’t have time to write down any codes when it crashed this weekend. I had a bunch of kids waiting on me, and my flipping computer blue screened.
By the time I got it all up and running, there were about 20 kids lined up in TSA fashion to enter the airplane-theme kids enviornment. I felt like a TSA employee, holding up the screening process…

Ok, well, if you get the chance, I’d like to see them. :)
