So, I would consider myself at least somewhat of a techie. I’m normally pretty quick at troubleshooting.
Well, I just installed a new wireless router at my home, and couldn’t get the notebook to connect to the Internet. It connected just fine to the router, accepted the password, but wouldn’t let me on the network.
After over 60 minutes of troubleshooting, I finally got it working. Stupid me…all it needed was upgraded firmware on the router. I knew I needed to upgrade the firmware, but for some reason, I assume it wasn’t needed yet…
Needless to say, I hope I will learn my lesson and not have to mess that much in the future!

Yesterday I read a blog entry and thought it was really good. In fact, I thought it was so good, I sent the article to some of my colleagues via Email.
Today, I can’t get the story out of my mind, so I knew I had to blog about it and pass it on to you as well.
It is a telling story, and as you read it, think about what you would do in this woman’s shoes. Would you have done anything different?
If I am honest, I don’t think I would have done anything differently. And that is sad. I should have. My hope is that when an opportunity like this presents itself to me, I will be wise enough and willing to hear God speaking to me to do something differently.
Here is the link to the blog entry from Kathy Guy.

I am happy to report, after putting if off much too long, and admitting it yesterday, last night I braved the freezing temperatures to clean out my side of garage. I put on my pajama pants (as they are very warm), a long sleeve shirt, a winter coat, hat and gloves. It only took me 15 minutes, but by the time I was finished carrying things down to the basement, I was out of breath.
I was very happy to have my garage all cleaned up and out.
Yesterday when I got home, I just kept thinking about putting it off, putting it off yet again. Would it really matter? What’s the big deal? I don’t feel like cleaning in the cold. Then I thought about what it would be like to scrape my windows, brush snow off the car every morning. Not fun. I thought about how I said on my blog I was going to get it done, and I needed to get it done, so I did. What an accomplishment. I was happy I got it all cleaned out.
The stupid thing I did–I didn’t park in my garage last night, so this morning, I still had to scrape my windows.
Application: Even though I got it accomplished, what good is it if I don’t use it?
Do you see any areas in your walk with Jesus where this can be applied?

This morning, we awoke to about 2″ of snow on the ground.
We have a two-car garage, which makes it very nice in the winter to be able to park in the garage and not have to scrap the snow and ice off the windows in the morning.
Of course, I’ve been lazy, and there isn’t room for me to park my car in the garage at the moment. Emily can park in the garage, but I cannot. My side has a stack of shingles, empty cardboard boxes, three different types of powered saws, a pair of saw horses and some other miscellaneous odds and ends. The thing I, I have known for months I needed to clean up the garage. It’s been on my mind especially over the past two or three weeks but yet I haven’t done anything about it.
I think this is like our walk with Jesus, sometimes. We know what we should do, but we keep putting it off, putting it off, putting it off until we finally come to the realization, ‘Huh, I really should have done this a long time ago. It would have saved me a lot of time, I could have done it more comfortably earlier and it’s not as easy any more.’
Wouldn’t it have just been much easier for me to clean up the garage when it was 60 degrees out instead of doing it tonight when it’s 30? Will I ever learn my lesson?
Or, will I not do it tonight and put it off again?
Have you ever been there?

This week’s poll is about social networking.
Examples of social networks include, but are not limited to: MySpace, Facebook, Virb, LinkedIn, Xanga, Flickr, Twitter, etc., etc.
A follow-up question to the poll: Why do you belong to the networks you do? What made you choose those? Is there a particular reason you haven’t joined a different network?

This morning I was reading Mark Batterson’s Evotional blog, and he gave a few rules for church staff in dealing with volunteers. A couple of these really jumped out at me:
Make mistakes. Just don’t make the same mistakes over and over.
Don’t just point out problems. Be the solution.
Over communicate. When in doubt, CC.
Who you are is more important than what you do.
Made me think about how I’m doing in these ares. It solidified in me it’s okay for me to make mistakes. It also reinforced and reminded me I need to do better in some others, too!

Emily and I are currently on our way to Indy with some friends from church. Emily and I are riding with Dan and Trisha, and a Pastor Sean and Stephani. In the other vehicle are Justin and Bobbie, and Guy and Jodie.
This is our married getaway weekend. We don`t have much of a schedule, but we`re planning on going downtown today, as there is a Colts game on Sunday, so we`ll be avoiding downtown`s gridlock tomorrow by visiting the Fashion Mall as well as Castleton Square. Maybe Super Target if we get time, too…
