Back Home Again in Indiana
Posted by nathan on 20 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: my life.
Emily and I arrived back home again about 2 p.m. Thursday. When we turned down our road, it looked like there was MAJOR construction going on at our house! I saw a boom truck, a utility truck, a trailer and a full-size truck.
As we got closer, we realized the first two (boom truck and utility truck) were in the neighbor’s yard trimming back a large walnut tree as it had grown into the power lines.
Our roof is coming along. They are almost finished above the house, with just some loose ends to finish up there, and when I left there about 2:30, the garage was down to the sheathing. So I think they’ll be done with the job tomorrow, if all goes as planned. My grass is taking some damage…which stresses me out, so I’ll be happy when the job is done and I can re-assess how my grass is doing. I’m ready to put down a last batch of fertilizer for the year, so it is great timing.
Back to work…I have a load to get done this week!

Great news about the roof, we had a complete new roof put on our house a few years ago and it took much longer than it sounds like your did, I think it was about three weeks! Crazy! But once it’s done you’ll probably never think about it again so I just wanted to stop by and say welcome back and happy to hear things are going well at your house project-wise. Oh and don’t sweat it, please remember there are WAY more important things in life than your grass!!!

Oh my. You have no IDEA how Nathan is about his grass! When I lived with him for a year, I found out.
I mowed the grass once. He thanked me, but I could tell I did a crappy job.
And then there was the time I killed some of his grass…. if he wasn’t such a great friend, he probably would’ve evicted me!!
(I am joking, of course. He loves his grass, but not THAT much. I hope.)

Yeah, i finally got the spot of grass you killed to grow back. It look like FOUR WHOLE FLIPPING weeks.
Now you can’t even tell.
And btw, every time I see one of those weighted punching bags, I think of you, Todd.
Likewise, I thought about you whilst writing this about my grass as well.
Funny stuff!

Sounds like my dad and Nathan could talk grass. Todd, there was a whole STRATEGY at my house growing up surrounding “doing a crappy job”. It went something like this: get asked to mow the lawn, mow badly (try to swerve a lot “around things”), watch Dad freak out, never get asked to mow again. I have two sisters. We were all successful.

@Tara, that is hilarious! I tried that at home when I was a kid, but my parents just made me do it again until it was right!
@Nate: glad we had those times, and glad your grass survived me!
