My Lucky Brand Jeans: Fitting in to an old pair of jeans again
Posted by nathan on 22 Aug 2007 | Tagged as: my life., thoughts on life.
Today I got out an older pair of jeans from my college days. The jeans are smaller in the waist, and last year my waist had expanded enough I could no longer wear them comfortably.
But I am enjoying them today. They fit great!
These jeans are the only ‘designer’ jeans I have ever purchased–and ever will purchase at full price. I bought these Lucky Brand jeans when I was in college, maybe seven or eight years ago.
In that time, I have went through several pairs of jeans. My jeans just wear out. I wear a hole in them, normally in a very inconvenient location.
But these Lucky Brand jeans are different–they aren’t wearing a hole anywhere at all. They are very high quality.
Why is it that high, overpriced stuff seems to actually be a better spend of money? Why don’t these jeams wear out like all my other jeans have the past eight years?
Is there something to the notion of quality? does price affect quality, and how do we determine at what point we are no longer to pay the premium for higher quality?

What gets me is how much people spend on a pair of jeans that comes full of holes, with ragged edges, and “stains” all over them. I refuse to buy those types. Besides, it’s much more fun to add your own holes, and a lot cheaper.

it is more fun to add your own holes…just don’t add any in the seat of your pants. They seem to wear out very quickly once you do that!

Kids’ clothes are often a quality for higher price item, to a certain extent. There are often cute clothes I like for the boys at Walmart or some other place like that. They wear them and they don’t care (at this age!) but they don’t hand-me-down well at all. They only make it through one kid usually! But I will often spend a little more on Children’s Place or Old Navy and wash after wash things hold up better, and they get passed around to several kids without noticeable wear. However, I do this because of experience, not because of the label. I have found that the price for Gap Kids or other designer labels is much, much higher than say, Children’s Place, but of no greater quality in the long run. We all know there are times when people buy things for the label only. I would rather purchase clothes that last even if I have to pay a little more, but won’t go the extra mile for the designer label. Also, being current in style is a factor (ladies PLEASE don’t wear jeans that go up way past your waistline and have a tapered leg!) because some brands are classic and some are too trendy. I just thought I would give a little input about this since kids clothes are about all I buy! Myself, I just wear whatever is comfortable!
