I always had to ask somebody about supposedly well-known slang, because it was not used in my home or anything I listened to. As I recall, the people I asked made me feel really dumb and uncool, but later over half of the other kids present admitted they didn't know either. I remember being laughed off the schoolbus in 5th grade because, after overhearing a conversation between the older kids (junior high) I innocently asked, 'what is a rubber?' How would I have known this? I've been around pot users but never used myself and now I'm in my 30's and still wouldn't be able to fake it even if I wanted to. There is a sub-culture that surrounds every sin known to man and only those involved get it.
