5 thoughts from last night. (and some puppy chow)

1. it is good to be with friends.Yesterday i met with my buddy Todd and we had a great conversation. Last night we had Hope Group, and our friends Isaac and Erin were kind to open up their home and host our Hope Group while our kitchen is under such heavy renovations (and half our kitchen is currently located in our living room!). Emily and I enjoyed the company. And, btw, Erin, who fell down her steps about a week ago and was told she broke her tailbone, found out yesterday that she in fact, had not broken her tailbone, but it was just very bruised. So i guess Erin didn’t fall and break her butt after all.

2. sometimes it’s good to be busy. Last night Emily and I seemed to be rushed from the moment she got home to the moment we went to bed, but it actually felt good to be busy last night. It wasn’t like we were completely rushed, we just kept moving and kept busy.

3. puppy chow–yum. Emily made puppy chow last night for her to take to work today. There is a guy in her department who is moving to a different department of the company, and so all week the employees are taking turns bringing food in to say goodbye. And, btw, Emily has been giving a promotion to fill the position this guy is leaving. Her new title will be Relationship Manager. i like puppy chow. did i mention that?

4. renovations take a time and dedication. When Emily and i started working on the kitchen two weeks ago, we didn’t think it would take us very long to complete it. Boy were we wrong! It has been so much more work than we had anticipated. Paint, paint, paint. Wait for paint to dry. Wait for weather to warm up. it’s just a long process. we are looking forward to this weekend to really spend a lot of time on the kitchen.

5. it feels really great to be productive. Last night when we went to bed, it felt really good to know we had done all we could that day. we spent time painting and cleaning up the kitchen (which is an annoying job right now!), and it just felt good to get as much done as we could. we are going to try to be more productive.

What did you learn from your last night?

    @Nate: I enjoyed yesterday, too.

    I learned that sometimes its nice to just stop and rest. When we got home last night and put Luke in bed, no studying. Just “us” time. It was wonderful.

    I learned that good friends always answer the phone at 3:30 in the morning, even if they have to wake up at 5:00 for work.

    I’m learning the importance of friends and stopping to enjoy others. It’s so easy for me to get busy and just ‘run’. When I’m with a friend or family and have nice conversation, I feel energized. I think that makes me a ‘people person’.

    I’ve learned several things over the past couple of evenings.

    1.) It is possible to go back to “the way things were” with an old friend.

    2.) An hour with a true friend is much more rewarding that a million hours with a fake friend.

    3.) Sometimes sitting and doing nothing can be just as rewarding as doing everthing.

    4.) Prayer’s are being answered all around.
