I just ran into a Rax near West Liberty, OH - was on my way to the Ohio Caverns. Have to admit, I was incredulous at first - i asked the folks in the car… did that sign say “Rax”??? When I saw that it did, some nuerons of peace and tranquility fired off in my head - so I said, I know where we’re going to lunch! After the caverns, we went to the Rax. It has been so long since I have had my favorite sandwich, a BBC, that i order 2! I also had a banana-split milkshake that was too good to be real! Man, I miss Rax. I justt might have to make the 70 minute drive there again someday, soon!

Years ago there was a Rax in Overland Park, KS. We used to eat there all the time, the food was cheap and really good and they had an all-you-can-eat buffet that was off the hook! They usually had a guy dressed up in what appeared to be a foam alligator costume outside - we didn’t know that he was called “Uncle Alligator” (we thought he was a crocodile - this was the 80’s and Crocodile Dundee was big back then). Plus, he looked more like Gumby. We started calling him the “Gumbidile.” God I miss Rax…

I am eating sandwiches right now from the above-mentioned Rax south of Duncasville, PA…get ‘em quick because they’re closing on Sunday. We still have Uncle Alligator drink bottles in the cupboard here somewhere.

I feel old now…hehe. There did use to be a Hardees in Auburn. It was on the southeast corner of Seventh Street and Grandstaff, in what is now a used car showroom at Ben Davis.

I came across this entry when I was doing a Google search of Rax to prove to my Marylander husband that they actually existed! Coincidentally enough, we live in Auburn, too. I didn’t remember that Fazoli’s used to be a Rax — for some reason I thought it had been a Hardee’s. I seem to remember getting yummy Hardee’s fried chicken when I was a kid, visiting my mother in Auburn. Or maybe I’m mixing up my childhood memories? Auburn has changed so much since the late 80’s, that’s for sure.

I worked at the Rax in Rockford, IL off South 11th Street about 25 years ago, they had the best BBQ Beef and Jamocha shakes.

I remember the one in Star City, WV near where the old k-mart used to be (before it closed down). I used to crave BBC (Beef Bacon and Cheddar) and almost always got a Chocolate Chip Milkshake. I wish they would open a new one. I had so many memories in that place.

There still is 1 open just south of Duncansville,Pa. On bussiness rte 220. we ate there just over the weekend and enjoyed the food once again. The operator there told us that it would be closed at the end of May 2007 this month and open 2-3 months later as a backyard burger
