Internet traffic hacked.

Posted by nathan on 07 Feb 2007 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Yesterday there was a pretty large hack attack on three of 13 Internet traffic servers that help service global traffic.

The servers hit mainly route sites in the .org realm.

I had some trouble looking at the Joomla! sites, which are indeed located at the .org realm.
Did you notice anything slow in your surfing yesterday? where were you looking at when you noticed a slowdown. (only true stuff, please!)

bad habit.

Posted by nathan on 07 Feb 2007 | Tagged as: my life., thoughts on god., thoughts on life.

Today i realized i have developed a bad habit.

I am grinding my teeth, clenching my jaw muscles. I’m not thinking about it, i’m just doing it.

It’s not like I want to–it’s like an involuntary action. I am trying to relax, but i keep wanting to tighten my jaw. My jaw is killing me! I never realized i was doing it until my jaw started to ache a little bit. but i keep going back to it, and so my jaw is hurting more and more.

That got me thinking…how many things in my life are like this–involuntary actions i don’t even think about? like, adjusting the water temperature this morning in the shower. i don’t remember turning it on. i don’t remember even getting in the shower. it was just all kinda routine and involuntary. sure, my mind was working a bit, but i didn’t really think about what i was doing.
Then i got to thinking, how many things in my life are like this and affect my relationship with God?

I realized that i never knew i was clenching my jaw until i had pain. i was doing it before, but don’t know why. How many things in my life am i doing which i don’t feel any pain right now–but are they going to bite me in the butt later?

unintended results: smelling like a girl.

Posted by nathan on 06 Feb 2007 | Tagged as: my life., random., thoughts on god., thoughts on life.

Have you ever noticed sometimes when you do what you are supposed to do, there are unintended results?

Like today, I have been drinking a load of water–i’m talking like about a half gallon already. Dr. Tyler Chalfant tells me I should be drinking a lot more. ‘Have your body weight in ounces every day’ (that means, if I weigh (for the sake of discussion) 200 lbs., i should drink 100 oz. of water per day)
Now, this is really great for your body. Water intake is important to our body…but boy, it makes me have to go potty like 20 times a day.
And after going to the bathroom, I’m supposed to wash my hands and get rid of any germs, right? So i wash my hands like 20 times a day.
So, now that i have been washing my hands all the time, my hands are really dry.
And i don’t like dry hands.
So i have to use lotion.
Now I smell like a girl.

So, why is it that sometimes when we do what is good for us, there are other, not so good moments?
I think this is kinda like our relationship with God. Sometimes I think if i do this and that, everything will be okay. But in reality, if i do this and that, it changes everything else around me, and sometimes i can still get unintended results. What do you think?
Do you ever experience unintended results?

Joomla!, the cms i love

Posted by nathan on 05 Feb 2007 | Tagged as: Tech Stuff.

Joomla! is a powerful content management software. Joomla! is open source and free. Both free as in free fries and free as in freedom.

Joomla! is the cms that www.NewHope.in is running.

I had been a moderator at the Joomla! forums for a little over a year. It was a good roll, and i learned a lot. It was fun and i have gained a lot of friends. But i have left my post as a moderator at the Joomla! forums to free up some time for some other opportunities coming up…

if you ever need to create a web site for any reason, i do strongly suggest Joomla!. Joomla! is seriously very powerful, and yet pretty simple, too.

And if you’re wondering, this blog is powered by WordPress, an open source blog software.

Colts, Super Bowl Champs!

Posted by nathan on 05 Feb 2007 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts on their 29-17 victory over the Chicago Bears last night in the Super Bowl.
I had called a 12-point victory early in the game, and i turned out to be right on.

If you haven’t yet, you might also try to google the term: Jesus is a Colts fan.
My blog ranks pretty high with that search term, but, after all, apparently, Jesus did look favorably upon the Colts this weekend.

blue Sunday. Go Colts! Go Colts!
