My question was more of a bit of rhetoric. :)

I am a bit too conservative.

Mike, you make a good point. If it brings people closer to Christ, can it be a bad thing?

I think it is possible for the church to become too culturally relevant. The instant that relevance causes us to weaken the Good News of Jesus, we are too relevant.

But, if we can bring people to a life-changing encounter with Christ, without watering down the message, then relevance is ok. I would even go so far to say it's a good thing!

That's my $0.02

I disagree with Todd. How can a church be too relevant? Wouldn't religious leaders say that Jesus was too culturally relevant? He crossed lines and became culturally relevant in order to reach out to people.

Just think, there are thousands of people who have clicked on this web-site. By doing this, they are now one step closer to coming to church than they have ever been before. Some will actually go to church and Jesus will change their lives. Can't see the bad in it.

Of course, I work there...

I admit it's slick, and very well done. But it seems to be a bit like "dancing with the devil."

Is it possible to be too culturally relevant?
