Mama Mia!

Saturday night emily and I went to see Mama Mia! at the Fort Wayne Embassy Centre. We sat in the balcony, Section G, Row D, seats 5 and 6.

Mama Mia! (EDIT: for clarification, Mama Mia! has a storyline (spoken) weaved into Actually ABBA songs. it is about half speaking and half songs and a lot of dancing!) contains songs by ABBA, and was really great! Reading the playbill prior to the show, i was disappointed the song Waterloo was not listed as part of the show. That’s my favorite ABBA song (since i live in the town of Waterloo), and really wanted to hear that one again. But alas, it wasn’t in the playbill.

Well…if you know the song Waterloo, you are aware, if you don’t, then i’ll tell you briefly: It’s about ‘meeting my Waterloo’–meeting an end. So, it was the very last song, and the full cast sung and danced. it was great! i really liked Mama Mia!, and i recommend it!

Is it a musical? A recital of ABBA songs? What was it exactly?

It’s a musical…it has a story. Basically, someone decided that they would create a story around ABBA songs…or maybe the ABBA songs were created around a story…who knows? The point is, there is a story about a girl…and there is a boy…and there are songs and it is great! If you like “Dancing Queen” you’ll like the musical.
